The one-story building, which was solely built for commercial purposes, was constructed in 1904 according to the project that came from the hand of the Croatian architect . The building was used by the Eger and Friend Carpentry Association and contained a carpentry workshop and several showrooms selling all kinds of furniture and related products. The building was demolished on April 14, 1945, and in its place, the monument to the Croatian defenders and victims of the was built, which was ceremonially unveiled on June 29, 2003.

The building, which was built in the Art Nouveau style, contained a lot of that stated the name of the building and the name of the association.
