Yambol is a city in Southeastern Bulgaria and the administrative center of Yambol Province. It lies on both banks of the Tundzha River in the historical region of Thrace. The area surrounding Yambol has been inhabited since the Neolithic Era. The ancient Thracian royal city of Kabile, dating from the end of the 2nd millennium BCE, was located not far from current-day Yambol.

The city has remains of antiquity, including an ancient Roman bath and the medieval fortress of Yambol. Several objects remain from Ottoman times, including the Eski Mosque and the Bezisten, which were built in 1509. The city is also home to several churches like the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Church, as well as a Synagogue. The Catholic churches Saints Cyril and Methodius and Sacred Heart of Jesus were built in a common architectural complex in 1925.
